Biking into New York City!

Today's ride, from Norwalk, Connecticut, through Westchester County and the Bronx and then to midtown Manhattan, was definitely not for the faint of heart. We had to keep a close watch for cars cutting us off and pedestrians walking in front of us. We had been advised not to try to cycle into the city, but instead to bike to the north Bronx and then come in by subway. We're purists, however, and felt that we should cover every inch of our cross-country trip by pedaling.
We started at a Dunkin Donuts in Norwalk at 7 am, and made it to our hotel on West 76th Street by 2:30 pm, in time to go to Zabar's for a mid-afternoon snack. In the evening, we had dinner with Peter's sister, Sue, and her husband Gernot at an outstanding Vietnamese restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue.
